Hats Off by Pork Pie
Pork Pie is a local favorite for live music fans and swing dancers in Portland. There was a time when you
could only hear them live, but now you can get their CD and listen to them all hours of the day. I highly
recommend this CD for anyone who wants to familiarize themselves with the music played by the best in Portland. Their CDs are available HERE. |

All Aboard by Indigo Swing
Indigo Swing is a great CD for learning how to swing dance. This music is used by many dance
instructors because the songs have a clear rhythm and several songs are just the right tempo
for learning. The music is also very enjoyable to listen and dance to.

Whispering Grass by Swing Session
Swing Session is a great band from California. They lean towards the
faster tempos, although you will find a good mix of all tempos on this
CD. One of my favorite songs to dance Balboa to is Diga Diga Do. This
group also puts on a great live show so if you get a chance to see them
I wouldn't pass it up.

Cheo Felician - Salsa Caliente de Nu York!
"This wonderful CD contains virtually all of Cheo's uptempo salsa hits from the Fania years with the classics ("Anacaona", "Nabori", "Brinda Por Mi", "El Raton", etc.) all included. The liner notes also give us a close look at Cheo's musical life and career and the remastering on all tracks is excellent." (by Justo Roteta) |

Spanish Harlem Orchestra
Salsa may have its origins in Puerto Rico, Cuba and Latin America, but it was forged in
New York City and that at least is where its heart survives. The lifeblood comes from
the Spanish Harlem district and right in its centre is 100 St. Below that is Tito Puente
Blvd. By naming your band and second release in such a way you are putting out a
statement of intent that you'll be playing hard or Dura salsa, a classic sound which
is steeped in the music of the Latin greats, from Tito Puente and Machito to the Fania
All Stars.

Timing and Speed building CD by Jai and Candi
The instructional timing & speed CD has a total of 3 songs that are broken down into
3 speed segments: slow, medium, & fast. These segments are then broken down into 4 timing parts:
1-8 count, 123567, 1&5, and 2&6. The structure of this CD allows the listener to build a basic
understanding of timing, whether dancing on 1 or on 2, while building up dancing speed. By the
end of this CD you should be able to count the music on your own and dance at the speed of the
CD preparing you for nightclub dancing. You can get it HERE.
